Becoming an “Employer of Choice”
Attracting and Retaining Talent in a Competitive Workplace

Being an “Employer of Choice” is no longer an option.
People either want to work for you or they don’t!

What do employees want?
According to an international study that surveyed 17 million employees in 40 countries around the world, across 32 different Standard Industrial Codes, the top four responses were:

  1. to be told the truth

  2. to be trusted

  3. to be given help when needed

  4. have management listen to their ideas

In other words...workers want to work in a culture of trust, freedom and accountability.
In his recent book Good to Great, Jim Collins describes what the eleven companies who made the leap to “great” did to sustain their position in the marketplace:

  1. Built a culture around freedom and responsibility...within a framework

  2. Fill that culture with self-disciplined people who are willing to go to extreme lengths to fulfill their responsibilities

  3. Don’t confuse a culture of discipline with a tyrannical disciplinarian

  4. Adhere with great consistency to the “hedgehog concept”

What is this framework that fosters freedom and responsibility?  How do you attract...and support self-disciplined people?  What kind of leadership is needed to develop this culture?  What are the bottom-line benefits of all this, anyway?

This session will provide an overview for transforming the culture in your organization and how to involve all employees in the change process.  In fact, only when you have the buy-in of all employees can you be an "Employer of Choice".

At this session you will:

  • Explore the major challenges facing business today

  • Understand the benefits of being an “employer of choice”

  • Identify barriers in your own organization to attracting and retaining talent

  • Learn what is necessary to create and lead a “trust-based” organizational culture

“Never change things by fighting the existing reality.  Instead, build a NEW model that makes the existing model obsolete."

Communications:

Can We Talk? Authentic Intimacy between Women & Men

 How can I…

- create deeper connection with others?
- ask for what I want and need?
- be whole and comfortable in myself?

Designed for singles and couples who are seeking personal and spiritual growth through intimate, caring relationships between women and men. We explore ways to expand our capacities to love, nurture ourselves and others using deep inquiry, reflection and movement.  Learn simple yet powerful communication skills that enhance both personal and professional relationships.

Listening is More Than "Be Quiet!"

When you ask people what characteristics they admire in great leaders they always mention "their ability to listen".   Yet, we are never really formally taught how to listen.  From grade school through high school we are required to be quiet.  But being quiet is not listening.  Listening is an active process that requires discipline and finely developed competencies.

This fun, informative and highly interactive workshop will teach you powerful listening and communication skills that will equip you to:

  • Identify the five listening approaches

  • Recognize other people’s preferred styles

  • Create listening strategies for improved relationships

Managing Work Expectations and Transforming Attitudes

What Makes a Good Company Great? It’s the People. Committed, productive employees are key to organizational success and a healthy bottom line. The challenge, then, is retaining and developing satisfied, committed employees.  This program will help you and your employees understand and manage your work expectations. Why? Because people who have clearly defined, well-communicated expectations have better attitudes and enjoy greater job satisfaction than people whose expectations go unspoken or unrealized. And companies that employ satisfied, successful people reap the rewards of increased productivity and reduced turnover. In this program you will learn a practical model for identifying and communicating expectations.

Audience: Management, supervisors, staff, front line

Transition/Change

Shift Happens! Making the Most of Change

Are you ...

  • Going through a personal or professional transition?
  • Managing a change effort in your organization?
  • Interested in learning how to capitalize on change?
  • Frustrated, confused, or feeling paralyzed by the events around you?
  • Convinced “change” is a four-letter word?

Constant change is a fact of life these days, especially in the workplace.

One day your organization is going in one direction; the next day, there are new priorities... or not. One day you know where your career is headed; the next day, your career plan becomes obsolete ... or meaningless. Whether a change is welcome or not, we all go through an inner reorientation process as we respond and adjust to external changes around us. This process, known as TRANSITION proceeds along three phases-ENDINGS, NEUTRAL ZONE and NEW BEGINNINGS-and is almost always slower than the actual change.

In this practical and interactive workshop, you will explore the three phases of transition and apply them to your personal and professional circumstances. You'll gain insights into your own 'transition style,' learn how to tap your creativity and innovation at each stage, and become more resourceful and confident in the face of change. If you are leading a team, this workshop will also help you understand and address some of the challenges you may be facing, giving you fresh insights, tools, and resources.

We can help you SHIFT how you experience CHANGE!
